Thoughts on Controversy

lot's of controversy surrounding President Boyd K. Packer's talk.

alot of people who don't agree with President Packer's talk and The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints' beliefs instead of just disagreeing and acknowledging that these are our beliefs and respecting this - and that we also acknowledge and respect others aswell - have becoming aggressive and attacking. We are not forcing our beliefs down your throat and making you listen, just expressing our right to freedom of speech as you also have.

Alot of people believe that because Latter-Day Saints (aka "Mormons") do not agree with homosexuality that we are homophobes. I can personally say that this is not automatically the case. Anyone could be homophobic and just because we openly disagree with homosexuality does not make us homophobic.

I am a young heterosexual Latter-Day Saint and wholly sustain and support the words spoken from the Lord's modern day Prophet and Apostles. As such I do not agree with homosexuality but am NOT a homophobe. I have friends who are homosexual and although I do not agree with the way they live their life, I love them for who they are and they love me for who I am, all of us respecting each other's beliefs and differences.

I recently found this blog. and the great post that he did regarding President Packer's talk and how he viewed it. Definitely something to read to help understand different views on the same subject.

There are those against the Church who say wrong and incorrect things against the Church. I would urge all who have questions and/or "issues" about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to seek answers and replies with The Church rather than being one-sided.

To those who disagree with Boyd K. Packer: While I respect that you hold differing opinions from our own, this post was created with the intent for me to express my support of Packer. I understand that you may have been offended or hurt by Packer’s statement. However, this is not the proper venue to voice such feelings. I also understand that this is an issue that not everyone will agree on. However, this is not the place for disagreements to be discussed. I hope for as little contention as possible. If you are looking for a fight, start it elsewhere. Feel free to post, but keep in mind the intent of the post.
