COVE REBER!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexis has been educating me on some good bands and i am hooked on SAOSIN at the moment.

I was bored in English the other day (what's new?) and so started reading the band thank yous on the inside cover of the SAOSIN cd and i noticed that the first think Cove writes in his is "First and foremost I thank my Father in Heaven for granting me the wonderful opportunity of doing what I love everyday." i thought it was a bit weird for someone to say that, usually you only hear expressions like "fathe rin heaven" if your a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) so wondering if Cove was a member i decided to check it out.

I was so excited when I found out he is! i now have a "perfect" role model for who i want to be like when i grow up. He is a Mormon so it means i don't have to worry about the example he sets because i know it will be good. its really good aswell becuase he is a rockstar and is so cool!!

I have to say I found this link on accident,
To confirm the rumors of Cove Reber's
membership in the LDS church, it is true.
Cove's family comes from a long line of
Lds members, his father was a bishop,
and cove is a melchizedek Priesthood
Holder. He chose not to server a full-
time mission, in pursuit of a career in
music. Although most of his family and
friends dont agree with his decision, Cove
has done quite well, despite the constant
temptations of the music industry.

It is true. I grew up with him (we were Sunbeams together), his mother lead the music in Primary, and his father was my Bishop.

I actually had no idea he was a big rock star until a few months ago when my younger sister bought one of their cds.

I have to say as a long time Saosin fan, I never knew that he was LDS. This disappointed me in many ways, and there there is not enough virtual paper for me to list them all.
Most of all, what disturbs me, is the post from ash.huzzah. This sickens me to my soul. He is Mormon, so he is a "perfect" role model. Since most Mormons i know are corrupt and soulless. And he is a "rock star"? Not a real one. Rock stars don't wuss out, and not swear. Or Refrain from sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Or maybe not play a show during conference week. All the things that make rock stars, rock stars. And keep the self-censored and sheltered safe in their pathetic flocks.
Or maybe Cove will party and have sex, and his religion will take a back seat for a while. Oh, wait, that's what all the true Mormons where I live already do...

Kids kids...you're both wrong!

The truth is that you shouldn't believe that just because someone is LDS they will be a "perfect role model." And by the same token you cannot assume that just because someone is Mormon that they can't be a rock star. There are good Mormons and there are bad Mormons (if one were to judge that simplistically), just as there are good Catholics and bad Catholics.

So the guy is a Mormon, and if the all-knowing internet is true, he is active in his faith. So from what I can gather, he hasn't let his religion get in the way of his dream of fronting a global touring rock band. And he apparently hasn't let the fame and fortune of his music get in the way of his believes. Good for him. We should all be so lucky to find success in the things we love to do.

And by the way Ryan, your argument is terrible! You cannot call someone corrupt and soulless and then say they are "wussing out" for not partaking in "sex, drugs, and rock and roll." You were never on the debate team were you?

Ryan is not old enough to be on debate team. Hes obviously about 9 years old with his comment. He probably had it spell checked by his parents because he wanted to be cool. If being a rock star is all about going against whats "good" I think Cove has it nailed. In todays world doing drugs, having sex and getting wasted are the cool and "in" things to do. So Ryan, stay in you're "I'm too cool for this" mood, nobody cares. Saosin write some of the best music around. If you can't listen to it because its not cool enough then fine. You listen to the music because you like the sounds and it moves you, not because a male hooker behind the microphone with every STD going has written it.

Are you mormon?

The fact that this girls role model is cove because he is mormon is an OPINION. Dont bash people for the opinions. They have a right to have one.
