Yesterday was the 1st of January 2008, so to celebrate we invited the Carli and Winston + kids, Auntie Kate and Uncle Greg and Courtney and Bronte, and the 5 missionaries over for a late lunch/early dinner. It was alot of fun spending time together and getting to know each other better. After an amazing meal (thanks mom and dad!) Gabi, India and I thought it was time to cool off, so the missionaries were sent out into the backyard where we proceeded to have a giant water fight. Maybe I shouldn't just call it a water fight. Elder Hulse managed to scrounge some tomato sauce from mom and then somebody found the barbeque and Sweet Chili sauces. We then got into the ice from the esky. Mom stood on the back deck above us all and passed the ammunition, until it was time for the Elders to go and they had to rinse off. Mom "helped" by squirting ice and water onto the missionaries from above. Elder Glazier had had enough of mom so he dumped water on her!! (you can see the results in some of the pictures below).
After the missionaries had gotten changed and had a few more laughs, dad drove them to their next appointment. Then it was time to give Mason, Maya, Michaela and Bronte their presents. Mom made Bronte a prettily scrapbooked picture in a frame of her in her confirmation dress. Mason and Maya got their Christmas presents (an animal deck chair, a puzzle, some plastic insects and a "grow your own animal") and Michaela had some help from Auntie Kate unwrapping her presents. While Mason went off to play with his presents, Maya spent some quality time with Winston (we knew it was getting close to her bedtime) and between the couch and the car, managed to inflict a few injuries on poor Win.
It was a great start to a new year and was ALOT of fun.
If I ever have a ground hog day, this would be it.
