Today my school had the special opportunity of having the government funded program Rock The Schools come out and have the band Amy Meredith perform.
Gabi and I got to help the technicians and the band set up before their concert and we set the new "school who sets up the whole show the fastest" record. 1 hour and 20 minutes. Suck on that.
I got to meet the band and talk to them and they were really nice down to earth Aussie guys - only a few years older than me - inspiring to keep me going with my dreams.
I was a little disappointed in some of the sound crew from my school as they did not help out alot and left it to a few to run around and stress out (me being one of them).
When it came time to the actual show, i ended up sitting outside i was so tired. lucky i could still hear the music clearly. my friend thought she heard the host saying that they had given an ipod away to ashley [however you want to spell it] and asked if it was me. i said that i hadn't received any ipod.
i finally went in to hear the band play their final song "Black Eyes" which is my favourite and at the end of the performance helped clear out the crowd and tend to a girl who had fainted in the middle of the crowd (they must have been good - ha ha).
I was called over to the stage by a girl to meet up with Nikki the advertising manager for the tour and Christian the singer of the band who gave me a certificate of appreciation and a small wrapped box. I thanked him and asked what it was and was told i got an ipod for helping to organize all of the event before and after at school.
I was really excited, thankful and touched because these people had been so nice to me all day, teaching me and having fun with me.
I really enjoyed today and am glad I had this unique opportunity for something like this.
My quote was also included in the Rock The School's myspace tour diary and Stacey and my photo was also published (when i find the links i will post them).
Lizzie and I are so gonna be riggers when we grow up. Can you imagine us 2 together? We'd spend more time trying to hurt each other than doing our job. Riggers are the people who string the giant bags of balloons up in the ceiling at concerts and shows and they get paid something like $75 an hour and you have to hire them for a minimum of 3 hours. awesome. one person climbs the pole while the other drives the forklift. I reckon Lizzie and I could do it. Let's see how long we can last :)
